Maxine Harkey Dortch, daughter of the late Samuel Horton and Amanda Craig Horton, was born June 17, 1923, in Kennett, and departed this life Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at the age of 87 years.
Maxine was a member of the Abiding Peace Temple Church.
She married Marvin "Jake" Harkey who preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 1988. Later she married Clois Everett Dortch, who also preceded her in death on March 9, 1992.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Harkey, of Kennett; one sister, Margie Clines, of Crystal City, Mo.; many nieces and nephews; two step-daughters, Helen Coop, of Olive Branch, Miss., and Glenda Winton, of Piggott, Ark., and other relatives and many friends.
Maxine was preceded in death by four brothers, Carl, Bill, John D. and Burley Horton and three sisters: Pauline Milavich, Lorene Griffin and Dorothy Harris.
Visitation was Monday, Sept. 27, at McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, Sept. 27, at McDaniel Funeral Chapel with Bro. Chris Johnson officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were David Horton, Sammy Horton, Mark Horton, Eddie Horton, Billy Horton and Ronel Paul Harris.
