Born Jan. 28, 1924, in Portageville, Mo., son of the late John Carlis Arbuckle, Sr., and Alama Till Arbuckle, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during WWII as a frogman. He graduated from Wardell High School, and he loved farming and raising his family.
On Jan. 1, 1950, he married Mary E. Clark, who survives.
Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Arbuckle, of the home; two sons, John Arbuckle III and wife, Melinda, of Wardell and Wayne Arbuckle, of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Mary Reynolds and husband, Bill, of Wardell; four grandchildren, Betsy Weaver and Bill David Reynolds, Jr., both of Wardell, and Beth Stracener and husband, Brandon and Justin Arbuckle and wife, Nichole, all of Jonesboro, Ark.; four great-grandchildren, Luke and Sarabeth Stracener and Kate and John David Arbuckle.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Bonita.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., today, Friday, Sept. 10, at the Wardell Baptist Church with Rev. Griff Walker officiating.
Burial was in the Portageville Cemetery.
Delisle Funeral Home of Portageville was in charge of arrangements.
