Betty Rose Greer Krone, 74, of Senath, Mo., passed away today, Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at National HealthCare in Kennett.
One of four daughters born within five years, Mrs. Krone was born Dec. 3, 1935, in Weldon, Ark., to Tom and Atheleen Greer.
On Jan. 24, 1954, Betty married George W. Krone, Jr., of Senath. Early in their marriage they made Senath their home, and this year they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Krone graduated from Arkansas State University in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. To begin her teaching career, she was employed by the Senath-Hornersville School District as a middle school English teacher, but served most of her years as a third grade teacher. For several years Mrs. Krone served as a Sunday School teacher and director of Vacation Bible School for the First Baptist Church in Senath.
Some of Mrs. Krone's most precious memories were of her travels with family and friends.
Mrs. Krone is survived by her husband, George, and two daughters, Teresa and Cindy. Teresa and Johnny Burlison reside in Vero Beach, Fla., and Cindy and Rick McClure reside in Malvern, Ark. Mrs. Krone also leaves four grandchildren, Jeri Ann Stegall, Megan Burlison, and Joseph and Joshua Chambers, and two great-grandchildren, Mack and Caleb Stegall. Two of Mrs. Krone's sisters survive, Jennie Bennett, of Little Rock, Ark., and Tommie Lee Adams, of Newport, Ark. Further survivors include nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Krone was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Annika Mackenzie Stegall and one sister, Anna Jean Guinn.
With McDaniel Funeral Home of Senath in charge of arrangements, Mrs. Krone's visitation will be held Monday, Aug. 23 at 1 p.m., in the First Baptist Church of Senath with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. Brother Kevin Sullivan will officiate the ceremony with Pastor Rick McClure, Mrs. Krone's son-in-law, assisting.
Pallbearers are Charles Parker, Alan Jones, Mark Dunivan, Keith Mitchell, Noel Fernandez, Raymond Solijan, Todd Freeman, Raymond French and Butch Tucker.
Interment will be in the Senath Cemetery.
Mrs. Krone's last months were very happy due to the dedicated and loving staff of National HealthCare, for which her family be eternally grateful. The family appreciates all of the kind words, gestures, and prayers that have been made on Betty's behalf.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Senath or the American Cancer Society.
