Ronald Lee Hooten, 68, of Gideon died Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, in Memphis, Tenn. He was a farmer and member of the First Baptist Church in Gideon.
Born July 16, 1942, in Parma, he was the son of C.R. and Elizabeth (Fortner) Hooten. On Aug. 4, 1962, in Wardell, he was united in marriage to the former Carolyn McIlroy, who survives of the home in Gideon.
Also surviving are his mother, Elizabeth Hooten of Risco; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Tom Phillips of Dexter and Heather and Jeff Lindsey of Gideon; one son, Tim Hooten of Gideon; five grandchildren, Sarah, Walt and Kaitlyn Phillips of Dexter and Sydney Hooten and Ross Lindsey, both of Gideon; one brother, James Hooten of Memphis Tenn.; two sisters, Brenda Calderon of Seattle, Wash., and Teri Miller of Marston; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, C.R. Hooten; one sister, Sarah Majori; and one brother, Robert Hooten.
Visitation was held Sunday, Aug. 8, at Landess Funeral Home in Malden; Funeral services were conducted on Monday, Aug., 9, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Albert Henderson officiating. Burial was in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton. Landess Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.
