Ralph Vernon Ray, son of the late Oscar and Tilda Mae Winberry Ray was born on October 3, 1924, in Hornersville, Mo., and died on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at his residence in Hornersville. He was 85 years old.

He was united in marriage to Pat Fouch on February 28, 1953, in Eaton, Ind., and she preceded him in death on June 18, 2004.

He served in the Army in World War II under General Patton. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hornersville; Moose Lodge No.33 in Muncie, Ind.; and the Hornersville American Legion Post 362.

Ralph was a retired Machine Operator for BorgWarner.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Louise White, of Muncie; one grandaughter, Jodie Chipps, and husband Chris, of Nashville, Tenn.; one grandson, Kyle Kreider and wife, Alisha, of Selma, Ind.; two great-grandchildren including Carolyn Nelson, of Nashville, Tenn.; Kyler Kreider, and wife Kayla, of Selma; two brothers, Gerald Ray, of Destin, Fla.; and Donald Ray, of Olive Branch, Miss.; one sister-in-law, Janet Whittaker, of Muncie; and a host of other family and friends.

Ralph was preceded in death by an infant daughter; Grace; five brothers, Clyde Ray, Earl Ray, Ronald Ray, Melvin Ray, and William Lee Ray; and one sister, Ora Smith.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m., Saturday , July 10, until funeral time at 1 p.m., at the First Baptist Church of Hornersville with Rev. Paul Moore officiating. Burial will be in Horner Cemetery.
