John "Yonnie" Teodors Dainis, 61, of Hornersville, Mo., died Monday, May 31, 2010, at his residence after a brave battle with cancer.
Born May 4, 1949, in Germany, son of the late Teodors and Milija Dainis, he was a member of the Lativan Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, Mich., and an avid sports fan. He collected sports cards, enjoyed building model cars, had a great admiration for muscle cars, and was a fan of Tiger Woods and Barry Sanders.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Deborah Moss Dainis; three daughters, Tracy Wyrick and husband, Samuel, Kristina Fry and husband, Nickie, and Cynthia Brown and husband, Thomas, Jr., all of Hornersville; father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Moss; one aunt, Velta Asnis, of Michigan; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Juris and Maris Dainis.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, Thursday, June 3, at Hornersville Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 4, at Hornersville Baptist Church, with Rev. Paul Moore officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hornersville Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Bradley Moss, Junior Palma, Nickie Fry, Samuel Wyrick, Timothy Brown and Lance Mabry.
