Imogene Sanders, 90, of Blytheville, Ark., formerly of the Steele, Mo., area, died Saturday, May 8, 2010, at her home.
Born June 18, 1919, at Half Moon, Ark., the daughter of the late John Ira and Lena Leggett Gaines, she was a lifelong area resident and a homemaker. A longtime dedicated member of First Church of the Nazarene, she loved her church, was always involved in church activities, and served as the church organist for many years. She had been a member of the New Survey Extension Club for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a wonderful seamstress who made many beautiful quilts for her children, grandchildren, and extended family members over the year.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Royal Sanders; three brothers, Bonnie, Roy, and Ira Gaines; and two sisters, Emma Buck and Juanita Smith.
Mrs. Sanders leaves two sons, Gary Sanders and his wife Debbie, of Steele, and John L. Sanders and his wife Jan, of Kennett; her daughter, Rebecca Young and her husband Bruce, of Blytheville; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, May 10, in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Blytheville with the Rev. Ken Stallings officiating.
Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.
The family received visitors from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
