Elvis Bell, 91, of Kennett, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2010.
Born March 16, 1919 in Kennett, Missouri, son of the late Artemis Taylor Bell and Rosa Holsapple, he was a charter member of the Third Street Baptist Church in Kennett. He worked at Lentz and Wilcoxson Furniture stores for many years.
He was a devoted husband to Irene Williams Bell, whom he married on May 25, 1940, in Caruthersville, Mo. Mrs. Bell preceded him in death after 61 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include one son, Mike Bell and wife, Judy, of Springfield, Mo.; one daughter, Rebecca Chailland and husband, Butch, of Caruth, Mo.; four grandchildren, Scot Chailland, of Stewart, Fla., Bret Chailland, of Caruth, Michael Bell, of Kennett and Amy Scheihing, of Springfield; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be held at McDaniel Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2010, with graveside services to follow at 2 p.m., at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The Rev. Jason Bowen will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Mike Mowrer, Tommy Kelley, Keith Kirby, Rick Bell, David Bell and Cameron Chailland.
The family suggests memorials be made to Third Street Baptist Church or the Delta Children's Homes.
