Glenda Nadine Highfill, daughter of the late William Jackson and Nita Ann Brown Pleasant, was born Oct. 14, 1919, in Campbell, Mo., and passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark., at the age of 90.
On March 26, 1936, in Jonesboro, she married Glenn Lee "Hezzie" Highfill, who preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 2000. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Verna Lee Medley.
Glenda and her husband, Hezzie, owned and operated Hezzie's Supermarket for many years. She was a long-time member of the Senath Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Skip and Jeralyn Highfill, of Jonesboro; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Jon Skelton, of Raleigh, N.C.; two grandsons, John Highfill, of Jonesboro, and Kevin Skelton, of Raleigh; two granddaughters and husbands, Julie and Jarrod Payne, of Jonesboro, and Tracy and Mark Scheltinga, of Raleigh; two great-granddaughters, Jillian Highfill, of Shreveport, La., and Jenna Payne, of Jonesboro, and other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., and continue to service time, Wednesday, May 5, at McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 5, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob McNabb officiating.
Burial will follow in the Senath Cemetery.
Pallbearers are John Highfill, Jarrod Payne, Bob Taylor, David Harris, Kevin Skelton and Danny Pierce.
