Jean Martin, 79, of Malden died Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter. She was the Dunklin County director of DAEOC for 35 years and later worked for the DAEOC Women's Health Clinic. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Malden.
Born in Bonne Terre on Feb. 18, 1931, she was the daughter of the late James William and Edith Pearl (David) Morris. On June 22, 1952, in Farmington, she married Vernon Earl "Gabe" Martin, who preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 1986.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one infant son, brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Carrington and Rebecca Potts, both of Malden; one son, David Martin of Malden; seven grandchildren, Lucas Carrington of Malden, Kylan Martin and wife, Alyssa, of Broken Arrow, Okla., Ashley Hampton and husband, Junior, of Malden, Makenzie Clay and husband, Anthony, of Broken Arrow, and Jonathan Potts, Garrett Potts and Bobby Gee, all of Malden; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Gordon of Farmington; one brother, Jim Morris of California; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation was held Sunday, April 25, at Landess Funeral Home in Malden. Memorial services followed immediately in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James Fair officiating. Landess Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.
