Jean Martin, 79, of Malden, Mo., passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Mo.
Born Feb. 18, 1931, in Bonne Terre, Mo., daughter of the late James William and Edith Pearl David Morris, she was the Dunklin County Director of DAEOC for 35 years and later worked for the DAEOC Women's Health Clinic. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Malden.
On June 22, 1952, in Farmington, Mo., she married Vernon Earl "Gabe" Martin, who preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 1986. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, and brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Carrington and Rebecca Potts, both of Malden; one son, David Martin, of Malden; seven grandchildren, Lucas Carrington, Ashley Hampton and husband, Junior, Jonathan Potts, Garrett Potts and Bobby Gee, all of Malden, and Kylan Martin and wife, Alyssa, and Makenzie Clay and husband, Anthony, all of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Gordon, of Farmington, Mo., one brother, Jim Morris, of California; numerous nieces and nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, April 25, at Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 25, at Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with Rev. James Fair officiating.
