Hazel Irene Trosper McElyea was born April 7, 1924 near Portageville, Mo., and died Saturday, April 17, 2010, at NEA Baptist Hospital at Jonesboro, Ark., at the age of 86. She was the daughter of Eutha and Robert (Uncle Bob) Trosper. She attended Gideon School. The family moved to Campbell, Mo., in 1939 where her father farmed.

She married Arthur Eugene McElyea in December of 1945. To this union one daughter, Lucretia Ann (Lou Ann), was born. The marriage ended in divorce in 1957.

Hazel and daughter moved to St. Louis in 1960 where she was employed at Tower Grove Bank and then as a commercial insurance underwriter for many years. After early retirement, she became office manager for Information Systems, Inc., a company established by her daughter, Lou Ann. She then became active in community affairs and served as alderman for the city of Campbell .She served as a board member for Home Health at the Piggott, Arkansas Community Hospital .She was a former president of the Campbell Women's Club, a member of the Campbell Garden Club, and most important of all a Sunday School teacher for many years. She loved her Lord with all her heart and was a faithful prayer warrior.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Robert Jr. and wife, Pearl, and Willard (Red) Trosper; sister, Rosalie Watson and husband, James, and son, Jimmy; two nephews, Michael and Richard Trosper, and their mother, Buena; and one niece, Barbara Ann Trosper.

Survivors are one daughter, Lou Ann, of Jonesboro, Ark.; brothers Garnett Trosper, of Mountain Home, Ark., and Jim Trosper and wife, Carol, of Rogers, Ark.; sister-in-law, Irene Trosper, of Collinsville, Ill., and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, at the General Baptist Church in Campbell with Rev. Darren Baker officiating.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.

Landess Funeral Home of Campbell was in charge of arrangements.
