The Campbell hitters only put the ball in play once during the five inning game as Jones a was able to strikeout 14 of the 15 batters she faced.
"I'm happy for Laurel because she works so hard," said Kennett coach Laurie Vaughan. "She's worked hard probably since she was 10 years old and she's finally getting recognition. Not only does she do a good job out here, but she knows that she has good defense behind her. She knows that when she steps on the mound she can do her job because the defense is going to do theirs."

"We knew coming in that Kennett was going to be tough team," said Campell coach Joey Kerpien. "Thats why we scheduled them, we wanted to face some good competition. We were kind of flattered that they thought they should pitch Laurel against us. She was tough today. We couldn't scratch out a hit, but we gave it our best shot. "
The Lady Indians scored in every inning except the third.
Kennett put up two runs in the first inning, three in the second and made a round through the batting order in the fourth to plate four runs.
"We have a really good group of hitters from number 1 to number 17," Vaughan said. " After the game I told the girls that it makes my job easier knowing that I can put anyone from top to bottom at the plate and and they will get the job done. All of the girls will take their cuts and those hits will fall in for us."
Ciara Dewrock and Allyson Luce led the Indians with two hits a piece in the game.
"Ciara and Allyson have both been putting the bat on the ball really well and it's almost like teams fear them," Vaughan said. "When they get up to bat, they know they are going to hit it and hit it hard. Both girls are very aggressive on the bases too. Ciara picks up on all of that stuff. She came to me when she got on base and said I think I can steal on this or do a delayed steal. She see's all of that herself, I don't even have to tell her. Ciara just has that mindset and it produces runs."
Kennett's next games will be an away game against Portageville on Monday and a home game against SHHS on Tuesday
"We start our conference games next week and that will be a true test for us," Vaughan said. "We have seen some good teams, but I don't know if we've seen as much as we will next week. I'm anxious to see if we will step up and continue to do the things that we need to do."
