He was a U.S. Army veteran.
On April 2, 1960, in Senath, Mo., he married Jo Ann McNew.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Gentry, of Jackson, Mo.; one son, Anthony E. Gentry, of Pevely, Mo.; two daughters, Angela Gentry Smith, of Jackson, Mo., and Tammy Jo Wampaer, and husband, Greg, of Clarksville, Tenn.; two brothers, Gerald Gentry and wife, Marie, of Senath, and Melvin Gentry, of East Chicago, Ind.; three sisters, Lois West and husband, Frank, of Hoopeston, Ill., Emily Bailey, of Paragould, Ark., and Fay Westerfield and husband, David, of Dublin, Ga.; five grandchildren, Andrew C. Smith, Matthew K. Smith, Haley K. Gentry, Joshua Gentry, and Jarred Wampaer; one great-grandchild, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother, James Gentry, Jr., and one sister, Brenda Moore.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 30, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath with Rev. Bob McNabb officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Matthew Smith, Andrew Smith, Joshua Gentry, Jarred Wampaer, Lee Gentry, and Gerald Gentry, Jr.
