Lula Ethel Hancock, 82, daughter of the late James T. Smithwick and Lula E. Martendale Smithwick, was born May 11, 1927, in Senath, Mo., and departed this life Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Lula married Jack H. Hancock in 1948 in Piggott, Ark. Jack preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Steven H. Hancock; four brothers, Earl, Sturges, Martin and Elvis Smithwick; four half-brothers, Arther, Lawrence, Dose and Virgil Smithwick; five sisters, Agnis Pollard, Thera Privett, Oleene Griffin, Ophelia Garbade and Madge McGee, and four half-sisters, Jenny Rae, Artie, Pearl and Para lee.
Survivors include one son, Mitch Hancock and wife, Linda, of Stover, Mo.; four grandchildren, Jason Hancock, Forrest Hancock, Kim Lewis and Chris Fox; two great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Elizabeth Fox; Mary Hancock (Steven's widow), of Tulsa, Okla., and other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, Thursday, March 25, 2010, at McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 26, at McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
