Edith Barker, 89, of Malden died Sunday, March 21, 2010, at Golden Living Center in Malden. A member of the United Methodist Church in Malden, she also was a homemaker and a bookkeeper at Barker Oil Company.
Born in Lutesville, Mo., on Aug. 19, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Elzabeth (Lutes) Butts. On Sept. 4, 1937, in Malden, she was united in marriage to Chester Barker, who preceded her in death on March 7, 2002.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosa Dale and Chris Morgan.
Survivors include one daughter, Lindola Noe of Malden; three sons, Bill Barker and wife, Phyllis, of Florida, Carl Barker and wife, Nita, of Campbell and Jeff Barker and wife, Debi, of Sikeston; seven grandchildren, Scott Noe of Malden, Shane Noe of Mississippi, Kim Bartley and Dana Baker of Florida, Brent Barker of Poplar Bluff, Andrew Barker of Malden and Ben Barker of Sikeston; eight great-grandchildren, Matt Noe, Logan Noe, Trey Bartley, Emily Bartley, Lane Barker, Charity Barker, Drake Barker, Lilly Barker, Maddox Noe and Lauren Maddox; and two nieces, Faye Kitrel of Malden and Bonnie Henson of Kennett.
Visitation will be Friday, March 26, 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., at Landess Funeral Home in Malden. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Greg Dowler officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery at Clarkton. Landess Funeral Home of Malden is in charge of arrangements. M
