Convenience store gets burglar on tape

A 33-year-old Kennett man is facing second degree burglary charges after allegedly breaking into the Kennett Huck's convenience store on Saturday.

According to Major Steve Williams of the Kennett Police Department, at approximately 3:30 a.m., on Saturday morning, March 6, the department responded to Huck's in reference to a burglar alarm. Upon arrival, officers discovered that someone had entered the business through the roof, however, nothing appeared to have been taken.

After watching the surveillance video, offers were able to get a clear description of the suspect, and later received information on where the subject was living.

Williams said at approximately 1 p.m., on Tuesday afternoon, Officer Jeremy Yates made contact with the suspect at 205 Madison Street, who confessed to the incident.

The suspect was subsequently arrested on charges of second degree burglary and transported to the Dunklin County Justice Center, pending the filing of formal charges.
