Lula Cuff Hickerson went to be with our Lord on Feb. 19, 2010. Daughter of the late Cleve Davis and Mollie Huffman Davis, she was born Aug. 13, 1908, in Bessville, Mo., and departed this life Friday, February 19, 2010, at the age of 101 years, 6 months and 6 days.
Lula married John D. Cuff, who preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1941. She married Luin Hickerson on April 15, 1948, who also preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1984.
She was a long time member of Friendship Baptist Church in Kennett. She was in the restaurant business as an owner/manager most of her life.
Survivors include two sons, J.C. Cuff and his wife, Marian, of Kennett, and Paul Cuff and his wife, Jan, of Kennett; two daughters, Ruth Payne, of Kennett, and JoAnn Hickerson Warlick, of Lewisburg, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren, and other relatives and many friends.
Lula was preceded in death by one son, Jack Grogan Hickerson; one grandson, David Hickerson; four brothers, Charley, Gale, Carl "Peanuts" and Walter "Shag" Davis; two sisters, Dora Simmons and Mary Louise "Sally" Payne; one son-in-law, Thomas "Buddy" Payne and one grandson-in-law, James Sawyer.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 22, at McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Dale Rickman and Chris Maynard officiating.
Burial was the in Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Cuff, Glen Earl Harris, Don Davis, Randy Payne, Gordon Payne and Rick Lomax.
Honorary pallbearers were Corkey Davis, Ryan Cuff, Jerris Don Harris, Bob Holder, Billy Carter, J.T. Lynn, Dale Lynn, Jason Harmon, Joe Lewellyng, Josh Harmon, Tommy Masterson, Gene Watts, Tommy Payne and James Warrington
