Linda Gail White, 71, of Benton, Ark., formerly of Malden, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Ark.

Born July 2, 1938, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., daughter of the late Herman Matthews and Ethel Strong Matthews, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Benton, Genesis Sunday School class and THEOS. She had been a sales clerk for Sterling Department Store, then worked for 22 years in the cafeteria for Malden Public Schools.

On July 30, 1958, in Malden, she married Charles White, who preceded her in death on May 19, 2007. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ernie Matthews and Robert Matthews.

Survivors include one daughter, Gayle Smith and husband, Greg, of Benton; one brother, Leo Matthews, Herculaneum, Mo.; one sister, Daisy Tilley, of Mammoth Springs, Ark.; one granddaughter, Gregielle Smith, of Benton; one grandson, Gunnar Smith, of Benton; several nieces and nephews, and several other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., today, Tuesday, Feb. 16, at Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with Rev. James Gore officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
