Georgia Lorene Hawkins, 81, of Kennett, died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born May 7, 1928, in Homestown, Mo., daughter of the late George and Hannah Johnson Howard, she was employed at Federal Mogul as a factory worker, and a member of Northside Baptist Church.
On April 13, 1951, in Kennett, she married Hosie Hawkins, who preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 1977. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Mary and Glenda Hawkins; one brother, Charles T.G. Howard; two sisters, Mercie Johnson and Savannah Chambers, and one grandchild, Clara Hawkins.
Survivors include three sons, Hosie Hawkins, Jr., and Calvin George Hawkins, both of Indianapolis, Ind., and Edward Charles Hawkins, of Austin, Texas; five daughters, Mercie Camille Hawkins, of Indianapolis, Belva Priscilla "Beverly" Cunningham, of Kennett, Kay Allison Horton and Brenda Joyce Hawkins, both of Indianapolis, and Marsha Diana Hawkins-Hourd, of University City, Mo.; five brothers, George Howard and Johnny Howard, both of Chicago, Ill., Ben Howard, of Alton, Ill., Cecil Howard, of San Diego, Calif., and Delano "Sonny" Howard, of Chicago, Ill.; one sister, Irene Walton, of Chicago; 32 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 13, at Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 13, at Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. M. Chandler officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers are John A. Hourd, Delvecchio Hawkins, Calvin D. Hawkins, Milton Horton, William Cunningham and Terry L. Wheeler.
Honorary pallbearers are Calvin J. Hawkins, Tavarris Hawkins, Johnny Howard, Delano Howard, George Howard, Ben Howard and Cecil Howard.
