Born in Doniphan on Sept. 22, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Robert Clinton and Willa (Capps) Moore.
In 1934, Genevieve met the love of her life and later married William Lee "Bill" McPheeters, also of Doniphan. Bill and Gen moved to Poplar Bluff and later to Campbell, Malden and Scott City. Bill worked as a butcher and for companies in the grocery business, spending his last 26 years with Wetterau Foods. Bill passed away Oct. 19, 1974. After Bill's passing while living in Scott City, Genevieve returned to Malden to be near her family.
Genevieve was an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother dearly loved by family and friends. Genevieve's personal relationship with Jesus Christ was a tremendous witness to all who knew her. Her fierce loyalty to the Lord and her family was greatly admired by all who knew her. Genevieve was a member of Stokeland Drive Christian Church, as well as a student of the Bible and a prayer warrior.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Joe Mosley of Malden and Kay and Don Ables of Dexter; one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Patti McPheeters of Sikeston; eight grandchildren, Doug (Debbie) Thornton of Malden, Julie (Dennis) Rice of Malden, Lee Vance (Laura) Woodham of Fenton, Missy (David) Jacob of Shelton, Conn., Wes Ables of Cape Girardeau, Steven McPheeters of Sikeston, Joe (Angela) McPheeters of Watertown, N.Y., and Sam (Hope) McPheeters of Columbia; 14 great-grandchildren, Leah Thornton, Will Thornton and Kayla Rice, all of Malden, Blake Woodham, Drew Woodham and Daniel Woodham, all of Fenton, Nathaniel Jacob, Katie Jacob and Amanda Jacob, all of Shelton, Conn., Mason McPheeters and Miles McPheeters, both of Arnold, Ella McPheeters and Luke McPheeters, both of Columbia, and Angelo Joseph McPheeters due in May.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William McPheeters, two sisters, Lelia Sample and Elizabeth Moore; and two brothers, Clinton Moore and Bert Moore.
Visitation was held Thursday, Feb. 4, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. Funeral services were conducted Friday, Feb. 5, in the funeral home chapel with Dan Hargrave officiating. Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden. Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.
