James Herman "John" Meese, 69, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at his residence in Clarkton. He served in the U. S, Army, was an over-the-road truck driver and a member of the Tatum Chapel at Holcomb.

Born May, 1, 1940, in Peach Orchard, he was the son of the late James Herman, Sr., and Nancy Jane (Lee) Meese.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-laws Christopher and Dania Meese of Tallapoosa and Carlos and Melissa Turner of Kennett; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Sheila and Shawn Simpson of Clarkton, Julie Lewis of Rector, Ark., Chris and David Rackley of Clarkton, Becky Rackley of Rector, and Susan and Ronnie Pritchett of Ellsinore; one brother, James Phillip Meese of Burton, Mich.; one sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Al Hartsfield of Malden; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Bob Meese, Nen Meese, Jack Meese, Clyde Meese and Carl Gene Meese; and three sisters, Verlon Hogan, Violet Meese and Corinne Adkins.

Visitation was held Monday, Feb. 1, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Feb. 2, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Everett Meese and the Rev. Johnny Lynn Meese officiating. Interment was in Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton. Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.
