Glendola Maxine Battles, of Senath, Mo., daughter of the late William H. McGrew and Milissa (Pruitt) McGrew, was born Aug. 24, 1917 at Beech Corner, Mo., and departed this life on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at the age of 92 years, 4 months, and 24 days, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center.
Maxine married John Battles on Aug. 6, 1932. John preceded Maxine in death on Dec. 31, 1982.
Survivors include five sons, Billy Gene Battles, and wife Carol, of Richardson, Texas, Glenn Allen Battles, and wife Terri, of Racine, Wis., Larry Dewayne Battles, and wife Mary, of Kelso, Tenn., Gary Don Battles, and wife Juanita, of Garland, Texas, and Randy Mitchell Battles, and wife Marilyn, of Kenosha, Wis.; two daughters, Johnnie Faye Gurley, of Kennett, and Angela Denise Battles, of Senath, Mo.; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ed McGrew of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Dennis McGrew of Katy, Texas; three daughter-in-laws, Kathy Battles of Gonzales, La., Rita Battles of Bristol, Wis., and Debbie Battles of Bloomfield, Mo.; other relatives and many friends.
Maxine was preceded in death by three sons, Kenneth Rayburn Battles, Jerry Battles, and David Battles; one daughter, Elizabeth Maxine Battles; four brothers, Joe Wayne McGrew, Clyde Butler, Claude Butler, and Cletus Butler; one sister, Opal Collins; one son-in-law, Gary Gurley; and two grandchildren, Paul Gurley and Brilie Moon.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, Tuesday, Jan. 19, at McDaniel Funeral home of Kennett.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 20, at McDaniel Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Charles James officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers will be David Hanners, George Gurley, Bill Battles, Michael Battles, Shelby Battles, Matt Battles, and Levi Battles.
