According to Pack Master Charlie Brown, who noted that the Cub Scouts are celebrating its 98th year, the 2010 Cub Scout Olympics will be based on the four elements -- earth, wind, fire, and water.
Brown said some of the events the scouts will compete in include feather blowing, air bed blow up, coin toss, tent peg hammer, dirt bucket, move the earth, fill up the bottle with a water gun, transport water, ladle obstacle course, candle race, turn out the light with a water gun, and stop, drop, and roll.
"It should be tons of fun," Brown said. "Scouts in the Cherokee District include packs in Kennett, Steele, Campbell, Portageville, Malden, Charleston, Sikeston, Benton, Cooter."
The Olympics will be hosted by Pack 89, and will be held at the American Legion Building in Kennett. Registration is $5 at the door, and will take from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 16. The contests will kick off at 9:30 a.m., and will run through 1 p.m.
"We will start the fun at 9:30 a.m., sharp," Brown said. "[We are going to] start our [Boy Scouts of America] Centennial with a bang!"
