Everett Eugene Nunn, son of the late Proctor and Ada (Cawhorn) Nunn, was born in Point Pleasant, Mo., on June 29, 1926, and passed away at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on Wednesday Jan. 13, 2010, at the age of 83 years, six months and 15 days.

He had lived in St. Louis before moving to Dexter in 1990. He retired from General Motors where he worked as an inspector. He attended the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter. He served in the U.S. Army during World War ll. He was a Mason and member of the Mizpah Mt. Moriah Lodge #40 in Florissant. He was a member of the American Legion in Malden and VFW, also in Malden, Missouri. He enjoyed playing the guitar, tending to his garden and his family was very special to him.

On Nov. 3, 1948, he was married to Geraldine Morgan in Piggott , Ark.

Surviving are his wife, Geraldine Nunn of Dexter; four daughters, Debbie Stroup of Dexter, Cheryl Homyer and Pam Orlando, both of St. Louis, and Patricia Mirth of Bernie; seven grandchildren, Melissa Whitaker and April Hartle, of Dexter, Justin and Chrystal Ashcraft, both of St. Louis, Angela Homyer of Granite City, Ill., and Ashley and Amber Mirth of Bernie; and five great-grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by one son, Larry E. Nunn; four brothers, Norvell, Robert, J.W. and John Nunn; and two sisters, Pauline Brock and Willene Brewer.

Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 15, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 16, at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Josh Carpenter of Dexter officiating. Interment will be in the Mound's Park Cemetery near Lilbourn with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
