Edward O. Owens, 74, of Malden died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was a self-employed contractor in Malden and attended the Assembly of God Church in Malden.
Born in Gravel Ridge, Mo., on March 29, 1935, he was the son of the late W. H. and Ines (Thacker) Owens. On Jan. 26, 1978, in Malden, he was united in marriage to the former Mary Patterson, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are four sons, Randy Owens and wife, Sherry, of Dexter, Steve Owens and wife, Brenda, of Bixby, Okla., Greg Owens and wife, Vicki, of Chillicothe, Ill., and Curt Patterson and wife, Debbie, of Risco; three daughters, Cindy Shands and husband, Dennis, of East Prairie, Scottie Owens of East Prairie and Kim Boyle of Portage, Wis.; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Roy Owens and wife, Linda, of Valley, Ala., Bob Owens and wife, Kathie, of Meniff, Calif., and Ron Owens and wife, Darlia, of Dexter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Stanley Owens, and one brother, Jim Owens.
Visitation was held Thursday, Jan. 14, at the First Assembly of God Church in Malden. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at the church with the Rev. James Bolin officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden. Landess Funeral Home of Malden is in charge of arrangements.
