Esther Smith

Esther L. "Big Grandma" Smith, daughter of the late Arthur T. Hobbs and Gladys T. Barton Hobbs, was born August 16, 1933, in Kennett, and departed this life on January 8, 2010, at the age of 76.

Esther married Elmer Loy Lane, who preceded her in death, and later married Paul "Bill" Smith, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include; one daughter, Jane L. Ellis, and husband Jerry, of Kennett; four grandchildren, David Cross, of Senath, Mo., Donna Buys, of Kennett, Loy Cross, of Kennett, and Kim Huntley, of Jacksonville, Ark.; nine great-granchildren; one sister, Bertha Jackson, of Kennett; and other relatives and many friends.

Esther was preceded in death by two brothers, Jessie B. Hobbs, and J.B. Hobbs, and one granddaughter, Mellissa Ann Cross.

Visitation will be hosted from 6 to 8 p.m., today, January 12, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.

Services will be hosted at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, January 13, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.

Burial will be in the Lulu Cemetery in Senath.
