Rosie Mae Bates Hawthorne the daughter of the late Jerome and Elizabeth Bates was born Aug. 2, 1947, in Kennett. She entered into eternal rest Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at St. Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark., at the age of 62.
She was a graduate of Hayti High School, a homemaker, a member of St. Johns AME Methodist Church of Kennett, where she was president of the Usher Board and member of the Women's Missionary Society. She also did community service, helping others in their time of need.
Rosie is survived by two children, James Talton, Jr., of Springfield, Mo., and Barlisa Johnson and husband, Clint, of Jonesboro; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one older brother.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 9, at Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Williams officiating.
Burial will follow in the Willoughby Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Stanford Johnson, Tyson Pittman, Jamison Taylor, Julian Woodson, Terry Wheeler, and Jewel McKinney.
Honorary pallbearers are James Talton, Jr., Clinton Johnson, Jr., Gary Bates, Crockett Oaks III, Crockett Oaks II, and Robert Shepherd.
