May Bernice Huffman, 86, of Malden died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the Second General Baptist Church in Malden, and was a homemaker, quilter, Sunday School teacher, choir member and a devoted mother and grandmother.
Born in Dexter on May, 13, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Silas E. and Rosa May (Gaines) Blevins. On Nov. 22, 1947, in Piggott, Ark., she was united in marriage to Haskell C. Huffman, who preceded her in death on July 29, 1988.
She also was preceded in death by one son, Gary Huffman; two sisters, Edith Wheeler and Helen Rodery; and three brothers, Delmar Blevins, Peck Blevins and Earl Blevins.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Rick Luke of Sikeston; two sisters, Marsena Burgess of Flushing, Mich., and Shirley Burner of Swartz Creek, Mich.; two brothers, Bill Blevins of Pontiac, Mich., and Bob Blevins of Bernie; and two grandchildren, Courtney Luke of Malden and Chad Luke and wife, Sara, of Monroe, Ga.
Visitation was held Saturday, Jan. 9, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Jan. 10, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Chad Luke officiating. Interment was in the Bernie Cemetery. Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.
