On Feb. 22, 1947, in Piggott, Ark., he married Mildred Elaine Mikel, who preceded him in death on April 9, 2002. He later married Virginia Hamlett
Survivors include his wife, Virginia, of Kennett; two sons, Larry Joe Hamlett and wife, Jane, of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Bobby Gene Hamlett, of Wood River, Ill.; a daughter, Mildred Evelyn Clark and husband, Don, of St. Charles, Mo.; two grandchildren, Todd Jeremy Hamlett and wife, Melinda, of St. Louis, Mo., and Kimberly Jane Watford and husband, Stacy, of Harkers Island, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, Dylan and Madison Hamlett and Ashley Watford; a nephew, Herrald Hamlett, of Malden, who was like a brother; a step-daughter, Connie Smith and husband, James, of Armorel, Ark.; a step-son, James Bridges and wife, Cleddith, of Fairmont City, Ill., and step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 9, at Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden, Mo.
