Chargers D up, down Lions for consolation title at Campbell Christmas tourney

CAMPBELL, Mo. -- The Delta C7 Chargers held Senath-Hornersville without a field goal the entire first half and got a strong game from Damien Flowers to defeat the Lions 48-41 in the consolation championship game of the Campbell Christmas Tournament here Friday night.

In the title game, host Campbell downed North Pemiscot 65-57 to hand the Mustangs their first loss, while Neelyville downed Armorel 65-55 in the third-place game and Naylor held off Southland 50-47 for seventh place.

In the consolation final, Delta (3-5) shut out the Lions in the opening period and allowed just eight free throws in the second quarter to lead 23-8 at the half.

"I can't say enough about how our defense played tonight ..." Delta coach Nathan Baker said. "I was very pleased with our effort in the first half on defense."

Flowers had a big game Friday, scoring a game-high 23 points to lead the Chargers.

Michael Gardner pumped in 12 points to pace Senath-Hornersville.

Naylor 50, Southland 47
In the seventh-place game, the Eagles built up a 10-point halftime lead against the Rebels and held on to capture their first win of the season.

Dalton Woodard led Naylor with 18 points.

Levi Lackey's game-high 20 points led the way for Southland, while Kelton Wilson added 10 in the loss.
