Mustangs stay perfect, will play Campbell in Christmas tourney finals

CAMPBELL, Mo. -- The North Pemiscot Mustangs overcame a slow start and used a balanced scoring attack to get past the Armorel Tigers 53-50 in the semifinals of the Campbell Christmas Tournament here Thursday night.

North Pemiscot (7-0) will take on host school Campbell in the championship game tonight at 8:30. Campbell defeated Neelyville 93-77 in the other semifinal Thursday, while in consolation action, Delta C7 downed Naylor 68-48 advance to this evening's consolation championship.

Against Armorel, the Mustangs got 16 points from James Macklin, while Dominic Bryant added 12 and Britton Wilson finshed with 11.

North Pem trailed 9-8 after the first quarter, but rallied to take a 25-24 lead to the locker room and led 35-32 after three periods.

Zack Skelton paced the Tigers with 24 points.

Delta C7 68, Naylor 48
In a consolation contest, Damien Flowers scored a game-high 21 points to lead a quartet of Chargers in double figures as Delta advanced to a consolation title tilt with Senath-Hornersville.

The Chargers (2-5) also got 15 points from Stuart Mullins, 11 from Devan Ford and 10 from Weston Blankenship as they outscored the Eagles 35-22 in the second half.

Dalton Woodard paced Naylor with 16 points, while Kaleb Bridges added 14 in the loss.

Delta will face Senath-Hornersville this evening at 5:30, while Naylor plays Southland for seventh place at 4 p.m. today.
