John Franklin Boone

John Franklin Boone, 74, of Clarkton died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at his residence. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict and retired from General Motors in 1985.

Born on Blytheville, Ark. on Dec. 9, 1934, he was the son of the late Walter and Vina Irene (Howard) Boone. On Dec. 27, 1963, in St. Louis, he married the former Lavonda Mae Meese, who preceded him in death on Jan. 20, 2007.

He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Gwendolyn Neiman; two sisters, Peggy Parker and Sylvia Boone; one brother, Robert Hall; and two grandchildren, Jason Croft and Daniel Flanigan.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathryn Anderson of Malden and Kimberly Boone-Morrison and Dennis of Flint, Mich.; one son, George Flanigan of Malden; one brother, Ray Boone of Manila, Ark.; two sisters, Paula Mallory of Poughkeepsie, Ark., and Cynthia Marr of Norfolk, Ark.; two sons-in-law, Elmer Nieman of Vasser, Mich., and Ronald Mullins of Flint, Mich., five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Thursday, Dec. 3, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. Funeral services were conducted Friday, Dec. 4, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jonathan Harless and the Rev. Jim Hoyt officiating. Interment was in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton. Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.
