HOLCOMB, Mo. -- Three city fire departments responded to a structure fire Monday morning located at a Holcomb residence.
As what seemed to be steam seeped from the roof of the residence, a fire department official noticed and reported the incident located at 112 Elm Street in Holcomb, according to Holcomb Fire Departments officials. The officials added that the residence was observed and as the "steam" became heavier it was identified as smoke from a fire.
The Holcomb Fire Department originally responded to a call for the structure fire, but upon arrival asked for mutual aid from the Clarkton Fire Department and the Kennett Fire Department.

Officials from the Holcomb Fire Department continued to work to control the fire, while mutual aid assistance from the other two departments traveled to the scene.
Upon the arrival of the mutual aid, all three departments worked together to achieve control of the fire.
None of the residents of the home were inside the residence during the time of the incident, according to officials.
The Missouri State Fire Marshall is currently investigating the cause of the fire as a possibility of criminal intent, according to Holcomb Fire Department Chief Gib Riddle.
Riddle noted that the fire damage was contained to the attic and two rooms inside of the residence.
