John Franklin Boone, 74, of Clarkton, Mo., died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at his residence.

Born Dec. 9, 1934, in Blytheville, Ark., son of the late Walter and Vina Irene Howard Boone, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War, and retired from General Motors in 1985.

On Dec. 27, 1963, in St. Louis, Mo., he married Lavonda Mae Meese, who preceeded him in death on Jan. 20, 2007.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn Anderson, of Malden, Mo., and Kimberly Boon-Morrison and Dennis Flint, Mich.; one son, George Flanigan, of Malden; one brother, Ray Boone, of Manila, Ark.; two sisters, Paula Mallory, of Poughkeepsie, Ark., and Cynthia Marr, of Norfork, Ark.; two son-in-laws, Elmer Nieman, of Vasser, Mich., and Ronald Mullins, of Flint; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; one daughter, Gwendolyn Neiman; two sisters, Peggy Parker and Sylvia Boone; one brother, Robert Hall; and two grandchildren, Jason Croft and Daniel Flanigan.

Visitation will be hosted at 4 p.m., today, Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be hosted at 2 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 4, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden with Rev. Jonathan Harless and Rev. Jim Hoyt officiating.

Burial will be in the Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton, Mo.
