Doris M. Beaver Brown, 79, of Sikeston, Mo., died at 4:20 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born July 27, 1930, at Harvey, Ill., to the late Roscoe and Maude Dyslin Brown, she was a 1948 graduate of Hannibal, Mo., High School, and graduated in 1952 from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo., with a degree in Physical Education. She taught P.E. for two years at the Kinderhook, Ill. High School, and in 1955 she moved to Sikeston to take a position with the Cotton Boll Girl Scout Council. She served for 25 years as field director of the council in Sikeston, and was also camp director at Girl Scout Camp Latonka, until her retirement in 1980.
She is survived by two special friends, Harryette Campbell, of Sikeston and Ilena Aslin, of Cape Girardeau, and a host of other friends.
Friends may call after noon, Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the Nunnelee Funeral Home in Sikeston.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 3, at the Nunnelle Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Geoff Posegate, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Sikeston, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.
