Faulty wiring caused smoke from attic at residence on North Jackson, minor damages

A report of a structure fire at 605 North Jackson Street on Friday afternoon resulted in minor smoke damage to the attic of the residence.

According to Firefighter Marty Cato, the Kennett Fire Department received a call of a structure fire on North Jackson at approximately 3:56 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13.

According to Cato, the residents of the structure said that one of their ceiling lights went out and they began smelling smoke.

Upon arrival, Cato said the department noticed light smoke coming from the attic of the residence. Further investigation revealed no fire, and the smoke was coming from the wiring.

Cato said the department was on the scene for approximately one hour.
