The Wednesday Music Club's effort to support Inspiration Point Fine Arts Colony (IPFAC) on Saturday, November 7, was declared to be very successful.
The event consisted of a a fun walk, concert, lunch and two recitals, which served to produce over $1,000 for the day, according to Marilyn Caldwell.
She added that Jade Caldwell represented the Piano/Strings camp with her performance of Chopin's "Prelude in G Minor." Jade has attended the summer camp for the past two years. Also Pam Mercier and Libby Mobley played "Sheep May Safely Graze" by J.S. Bach on flutes with Mercier accompanying.
"Stars and Stripes Forever" by the Popcorn Girls, was performed by a piano trio including, Dianne Carter, Marilyn Caldwell, and Anita Blackmon. Robin McClellan, formerly of Kennett, represented the vocal camp with her selections of songs from movies and shows and was accompanied by Daryl Wilcoxson. Karen Hunter, once a student at Inspiration Point where she met her husband, Terry Hunter, spoke of her experiences while attending the colony. Nancy Rogers served as emcee for the program.
She added that Olivia Beach won the prize for most sponsors and the prize for most money collected, while Travis Caldwell won the prize for most laps walked around the Kennett Middle School track with 15 laps. Joelle and Elice Siebenhuener both walked around the track 10 times. Adults walking the most laps included Anna Siebenhuener and Finis Caldwell.
Caldwell explained that the event included many other door prizes being awarded.
The event was coordinated by Anita Blackmon who was assisted by parents, the Wednesday Music Club members, piano students, and the Presbyterian Church. Donors of prizes for all walkers, food and drinks deserve much appreciation for making the project a success.
