Robert Keith Charlton, 22, of Malden, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany.

Born Feb. 5, 1987, in West Memphis, Ark., son of Edison Keith Charlton and Denise Roxanne McMillian Tadlock, he was a U.S. Army, Specialist Infantryman. He proudly served with the 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York. He gave the ultimate sacrifice while serving in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He took up arms against terrorists in the global war on terrorism and performed his duties with honor and distinction, having been recognized with the Combat Infantryman's Badge and the Army Commendation Medal. He attended the Stokelan Drive Christian Church in Malden.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Denise and Joseph Tadlock, of Malden; his father, Keith Charlton, of Perryville, Ark.; one brother, Adam Tadlock, of Malden; his grandparents, Ralph and Betty McMillian, of Malden, and an uncle and aunt, Rick and Mona McMillian, of Knoxville, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Johanna McMillian.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., today, Thursday, Nov. 5, at Landess Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 6, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with Army Chaplain Major Dave Cerutti officiating.

Burial will follow in Rosewood First Addition Cemetery at Malden.
