William Elmer Tomlinson, son of the late Enos Tomlinson and Vira Grissom Tomlinson, was born May 7, 1920 in Magness, Ark., and departed this life Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at the age of 89 years, 5 months and 23 days.
Elmer married Ruth Pauline Low on Nov. 25, 1939 in Caruthersville, Mo.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Pauline Tomlinson of 69 years and 11 months of Bragg City, Mo.; two sons, Terry Tomlinson, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Don Tomlinson and his wife, Brenda, of Kennett; five daughters, Veneda Collins and her husband, Jimmy, of Troy, Mo., Alfreda Nash, of Houston, Texas, Glenda Gilmore, of Santa Barbara, Calif., Minnie Tomlinson, of Houston, Texas, and Paula Franki, of Houston, Texas; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Graves, of Mesa, Ariz., Dorothy Goodman, of Kennett,, and a host of relatives and many friends.
Elmer was preceded in death by one daughter, Laveda Tomlinson; one son, Thomas Tomlinson, and one granddaughter, Evon Franki.
Elmer was a member of the Bragg City Baptist Church where he served as a teacher, Sunday school superintendent and deacon. He was a retired Bragg City farmer where he lived for the past 73 years.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 2, at McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with service being at held at 2:30 p.m., with Reverend O.H. Brooks officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers are Andy Collins, Mark Tomlinson, Nelson Nash, Jason Tomlinson, Tim Cox and Trent Tomlinson.
Honorary pallbearers are Doug Collins, Keith Tomlinson, Ricky Cox, Steve Cox, Josh Cline and Houston Jones.
