According to Major Steve Williams of the Kennett Police Department, at approximately 1:01 p.m., the department was dispatched to Walmart to investigate a report of a robbery in the parking lot.
Upon arrival, Williams said officer contacted the victim, Shirley Bruce, 70, of Blytheville, Ark., who said as she was leaving the store, she was approached by a young black male who said something she couldn't understand.

Officers then watched the Walmart surveillance video and saw three black males following Bruce, Williams said. The video showed one of the males making contact with Bruce, grabbing her wallett, and all three running from the scene. Officers then began searching the area.
Shortly thereafter, officer Craig Crow located three black males walking on Astrachan Street who matched the descriptions from the Walmart video, said the KPD Major, who added that the three individuals ran behind some apartments when they saw the patrol car.
Williams said after a brief search of the area, the three men were located hiding in an apartment, and were identified as David R. Hamilton, 17, of Caruthersville, Mo., Justin Wright, 17, of Hayti, Mo., and a 16-year-old juvenile from Hayti.
According to Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney Stephen Sokoloff, Wright and Hamilton are facing the Class B felony charge of robbery in the second degree, a crime punishable by five to 15 years in the state penitentiary. Both are being held at the Dunklin County Justice Center, each on a $50,000 bond.
The juvenile was turned over to the Dunklin County Juvenile Office and is being detained at the Bloomfield, Mo., Detention Center.

Hmmmm, wonder if they are going to call the NAACP in, and try to get these scums off, too.
As I continue to say, they did what they did, now they should pay a very steep price. This kind of crap is becoming too prevalent in our society, and we continue to let them use alleged "mitigating factors" and lame racial excuses that have no place in the American justice system!
It's time for Kennett's system to take a harsh stand, and make an exampe out of these degenerates. That is the only way that a deterent will be afforded to someone else that "has an itch" in their mind to commit a crime against the ways of our society.

momale and ocean, I don't know if you are aware of the word ignorant and what it means, but let me inform you:
1. lacking in knowledge or training; unlearned: an ignorant man.
2. lacking knowledge or information as to a particular subject or fact: ignorant of quantum physics.
3. uninformed; unaware.
4. due to or showing lack of knowledge or training: an ignorant statement.
I do feel very comfortable using this word to describe you two. This matter is a real crime and until you know the facts of the other situation you are speaking of then I would suggest you leave it alone. I have read many comments on DDD and I have yet to read a comment that is making racial slurs about white people. If racism is not a problem, then I would suggest you all stop making the comments about black people. Just in case you have not read comments on all of Kennett's forums, here or Topix, Kennett sounds like an extremely racist town and the comments don't make it hard to prove.
NAACP is called in only for Injustice and they do a check and look into the situation along with other organizations before they react, and some cases are reason to react and some are not. If these young men committed a crime, they should be punished according to the LAW, and snatching a woman's purse is a crime, especially an elderly lady. My prayers go out to Ms. Bruce and I thank God that she was not injured during this incident. I have compassion for people and it does not matter the color of their skin, because right is right and wrong is wrong. There are no colors to those words.

If you really think what I said is "racist", then you are a black person that merely throws around that word towards a white person that is tired of crimes committed by blacks, without any regard to the truth.
I stand by what I said, and until the black crime is diminished (absent allegations of racism), I will continue my stand. Your idea of "racism" has no place in what I have said, or how I stand, so put a turnip in it.
If the crime does not stop by blacks, and if the police and courts are unable to but a damper on it, then I will certainly handle it in my own way.
By the way, the NAACP is nothing but a left wing hate filled extremist group (no less than any white supremist group), so don't preach your crap to me about such an ignorant group of people.
It doesn't matter if they are white, black, yellow, or brown. They should all face the same penalties no matter what race, color, or creed. They are crimanls and need to be punished by city and state laws. It is rediculous that these people come to Kennett to rob a 70 year old lady. In my book they are cowards and need some time in jail or an adult corrections facility to think about the stupidity of their actions. As far as NAACP getting involved, doubt it. Video is a powerful tool that leaves no doubt there was a crime commited and these guys have thier 15 minutes of fame. I believe it is ignorance and the lack of education that spawns this type of behavior and not racism. I wonder what people would be saying if the 70 year old woman was a pistol packin granny and pulled a hogleg out and shot them dead? Would she be charged with murder or would it have been justifiable homicide? Who knows in podunk!
well i am justin wright girlfriend an yall have no rite to talk about him or black ppl yall dnt kno him....yea he made a mistake just like if a white person made a mistake he didnt do it bc hes black....hez a good person an yall are making it look like hes a monster....what he did was wrong an i feel sooo sorry for shirley bruce...but he is a human jus like you an his race should mot be a factor in this if u havent noticed WHITE ppl commit crimes to....dnt think im saying what he did was rite bc its NOT!!! but what he did has nothing to do wit him being black....
