H.S. Art Contest winners recognized

Out of more than 200 entries in the 2009 Delta Fair High School Art Contest, Elizabeth Twaddell, of Dexter High School, took home the Best of Show prize in the Azalea Garden Club sponsored show.

Twaddell's entry, "Life Needs More Color," was chosen as the top entry from the 221 pieces submitted.

In Lot I - Oil or Acrylic Still Life, the winners were:

* First Place - "Stapled Apples," entered by Carrie Brown of Dexter High School;

* Second Place - no second place prize;

* Third Place - "Vershiittete Milch," entered by Sydnie Rinehart of Dexter High School;

* Honorable Mention - no honorable mention prize.

In Lot II - Oil or Acrylic Landscape or Seascape, the winners were:

* First Place - "Untitled No. 3," entered by Henry McCoy of Dexter High School;

* Second Place - "The Tree," entered by Emily Graddy of Piggott High School;

* Third Place - "Sunrise in Paradise," entered by Evelyn Rodriguez of Senath-Hornersville High School;

* Honorable Mention - "Serenity," entered by Kassie Gentry of Senath-Hornersville High School.

In Lot III - Oil or Acrylic Floral, the winners were:

* First Place - "Flower," entered by Jenna McKuin (no school was listed);

* Second Place - "Ha Bliche Blume," entered by Sydie Rinehart of Dexter High School;

* Third Place - "Simple Pleasures," entered by Heather Neely of Piggott High School;

* Honorable Mention - "Lili Wilt," entered by Taryn Gillette of Senath-Hornersville High School;

Prize money was awarded to the first place ($30), second place ($22), and third place ($15) winners in each lot, as well as the Best of Show ($37).
