'The Fabulous 50's' float wins first place in parade

The Red Hat Society of Portageville, Mo., won first place in the Delta Fair Parade Float Contest with its entry, "The Fabulous 50's."

Five Floats involved in the 52nd AnnualDelta Fair Parade were announced as winners and won a total of $2,150, following the judging of the floats.

The five winning floats included; First Place, Red Hat Society, winning $750; Second Place, Junior Class Homecoming Float, winning $500; Third Place, Varner River, winning $400; Fourth Place, Glen Sain, winning $300; and Fifth Place, Semo Little Theater, winning $200.

The Delta Fair Parade entries in order of appearance included:

Mayor Roger Wheeler, Sr., noted that he believed the parade was a great success with an exceptional number of entries.

He added that he appreciated individuals cleaning up after themselves following the event.
