Kennett's Vickie Panousis gets ready to return a serve during Wednesday's tennis match against Charleston at Wheatley Courts.
Just two days after having their three-game winning streak snapped, the Kennett Lady Indians used their serving to bounce back.

Jody Vancil served the first 10 points of the opening set while Jamie Jarrett's serving fueled a key run in the second as the Lady Tribe downed the Holcomb Lady Hornets 25-9, 25-20 Wednesday at the Kennett High School gymnasium.

Vancil and Jarrett each had a pair of aces, while Vancil added six digs and Jarrett dished off four assists.

"Jody served the ball very well tonight," Kennett coach Laura Ort said. "Jamie had a big run and got a couple of hits on front row. She contributed offensively which is a big step up for her."

The win was especially big coming off of a three-set loss to Twin Rivers on Monday.

"We played a lot better today," said Ort. "We played with a little more focus."

The Lady Indians did not need long to take control of the match, going up 10-0 in the opening set on the strength of Vancil's serving, then closing the set on a 10-4 run.

In the second set, Holcomb took an early 3-0 lead and the score was 11-all when Kennett went on a 7-0 run behind Jarrett's serving to take the lead for good.

Audrey Wynne finished with eight kills and two blocks to pace the Lady Tribe (11-5-1) while Ciara Dewrock added three kills, three blocks and four digs.

Taylor Wake chipped in five kills and two digs while Chrisie Burrow finished with 14 assists.

Kennett travels to Southland this evening.
