Mrs. Laverta Jackson, 60, of Troy, Mo., passed away on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009 at the Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy.
She was born on June 24, 1949 in Gideon, Mo., to Sherman and Mary Strassner Ogden.
On June 23, 1967, she married Bill Jackson, in Bragg City, Mo. Shortly thereafter, the couple moved to Troy, Mo. Laverta began working for the Creech Brothers Truckline in Troy, retiring after 37 years. The Jackson's were devoted members of the First Christian Church in Troy. Laverta served as their financial secretary for many years and also helped whenever called upon.
Surviving are her husband, Bill Jackson, of Troy; her daughters, Lee Jackson-Poole, of Troy and Jill Calvin and husband, Rob, of Troy; her mother, Mary Ogden, of Clarkton, Mo.; her grandchildren, Devon Poole, Keaton Calvin, Konnor Calvin, Karson Calvin; her mother-in-law, Ruth Jackson, of Troy; her siblings, Ray Ogden and wife, Sharon, of Mecca, Calif., and sister, Sharron Glass and husband, Jimmie, of Swansboro, N.C., and many other wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., today, Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Troy with Revs. Steve Doan, Donna Doan and Jane Kelley officiating.
Burial was in the Troy City Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Rob Atchley, Lance Bradsher, Curt Creech, Keith Creech, Kyle Creech, Tim Mueller. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Bradsher, Harold Cannon, Clem Creech, Tom Polly and Mike Whalen.
McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home, 1304 Boone St., Troy, Mo. 63379, was in charge of arrangements.
