Donald Jack Loyd, son of the late Herman Sanford and Katie Brannum Loyd, was born November 11, 1934, in Cardwell, Mo., and passed away Sunday, September 6, 2009, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, Ark., at the age of 74 years.

On October 17, 1958, in Arbyrd, Mo., he married Becky Thomas, who survives him in death.

Mr. Loyd was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a retired auto mechanic, and attended Cardwell High School.

Survivors include one son, James Loyd, and wife, Gloria, of Aurora, Ill.; two daughters, Missy Loyd, of Bolingbrook, Ill., and Melanie Mort, and husband, Rodney, of Duncan, S.C.; one brother, Joe Wayne Loyd, of Irving, Texas; two sisters, Betty Crow, of Chapin, S.C., and Norma Gray, of Louden, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; other relatives; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by one son, John Loyd.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., today, Tuesday, September 8.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at the Calvary Full Gospel Church in Cardwell with the Rev. Leland Dement officiating.

Burial will be in the Cardwell Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brian Abbott, Creighton Anderson, Mike Antiss, Ron Branum, Larry Petty, Hugh Walpole, and Joel McMillan.
