Carla Sue Young, of Portageville, Mo., daughter of Jerry Whaley and Betty Wilson Simer, was born Sept. 2, 1962 in Malden, Mo., and departed this life on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett, at the age of 46 years, 11 months and 23 days.
Carla married Bruce Young on Aug. 28, 1997 in Piggott, Ark.
Survivors include her husband, Bruce Young, of Portageville, Mo.; one step-son, Bruce Wade Young and wife, Katie, of Portageville; her father, Jerry Whaley, of Piggott, Ark.; her mother, Betty Simer, of Kennett; two granddaughters, Isabella Jackson, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Kelsey Miller, of Cherry Point, N.C.; one grandson, T.J. Miller of Cherry Point; one brother, Michael Whaley and wife, Sherry, of Kennett; two sisters, Melodie Whaley of Kennett and Sherry Sisson and husband Michael, of Kansas City, Mo., and several nieces and nephews.
Carla was preceded in death by her step-dad, Ernie Simer.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 27 at McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 27, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with Pastor Jamie Grisham officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers are Tony Smith, Andy Grisham, Kyle Rogers, Keith Emmons, Michael Sisson and Bruce Wade Young.
