Mary Ellen Carnell, 84, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at Hayti, Mo.
Born April 20, 1925, in Senath, Mo., daughter of the late Marion S. and Nora Stanfill Revelle, she was a 1943 graduate of Arbyrd High School, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1951 from Arkansas State College in Jonesboro, Ark., a Master of Science in Education degree in 1958 from Arkansas State College, and did graduate work in 1970 on EDS from Arkansas State University. She was a teacher for over 40 years, teaching in Deering, Braggadocio and Caruthersville School District #18.
On May 4, 1946, in Senath, she married Clarence Carnell, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Revelle and one sister, Lorene Haggard.
Survivors include one son, David Nathaniel Carnell, of Caruthersville; nieces and nephews and other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, Aug. 3, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with Rev. Doug Boyd officiating.
Burial was in the Lulu Cemetery at Senath.
Pallbearers were Dan Travis, Bill Reno, Denny Baird, Charlie Jones, Martin Ray and Bobby Irions.
