Ida Ethelene Shirmen

Ida Ethelene Shirmen, daughter of the late Edgar Lee Kirby and Pearl Hurst Kirby, was born April 3, 1923 in Kennett. She passed away Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the age of 86 years, 3 months, and 20 days.

Mrs. Shirmen married Rethus Shirmen on April 1, 1941. He preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1986. She was also preceded in death by a son, Lester Shirmen; a daughter, Elizabeth Mungle; two brothers, Hershel and Bill Kirby, and four sisters, Valdrice Willoughby, Phyllis Kirby, Ann Rackly, and Wathena Bauer.

Survivors include one son, Ollie Sherman, of Maryland Heights, Mo.; four grandchildren, Chris Harden, Joe Eubanks, Vicky Sherman, and Kathy Williams; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 25, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with Rev. Wayne Wheatley officiating.

Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Tommy McElwrath, Randy Davis, John Michael Stacey, Raymond Sellers, Keith Kirby and Buck Wheatley.
