Wireless company begins installation of new tower near Senath

A 200-foot cell tower is being constructed one mile South of Senath, Mo., on Highway C by AT&T wireless..

According to the owner of the land, who asked to remain anonymous, a realtor for AT&T contacted her in August of 2008. After hearing from the realtor, the owner was offered a long lease, which she agreed to following her attorney's approval.

The owner said that the process was, "a lot to go through," and the crew recently began the project working all day on July 4. She added that Pemiscot-Dunklin Electric Cooperative officials will be working with the construction crew to generate electricity to the tower. The crew recently worked with 12 concrete trucks to construct the pads for the base of the tower and three cylinders to accommodate electricity flow, according to the owner.

The tower needed to be placed where the reception wouldn't bleed into Arkansas, according to the owner. This is why her land was chosen as a designated place for the tower.

"The reception is terrible around here, so hopefully everyone will be happy to know I let them put it on my ground," the owner said.

Marissa Gillmer of Fleishman-Hillard, a spokesman for AT&T Corporate Communications, noted that additional AT&T wireless network coverage will soon be in the Dunklin County area.

"We are building a cell site near the town of Senath, and we've also just turned up a site near Bernie, Mo., that will add some coverage to the county as well," Gillmer said.

Thanks to the landowner for allowing this to happen. We need the reception boost. I work in healthcare and use a mobile device daily for working with patients and it is very difficult to manage without reception in this area.

Thank you owner of the land...I live in Arbyrd and can barely pick up service. This is awesome...now maybe we can actually use our phones that we pay for :)

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I live in Senath I get mad on a daily basis about the cell coverage here. There's not a day goes by, that I don't have a dropped call. So, thank you so very much.

Good, now I can text without dropping the connection while I am driving thru.
